Formerly Crown PSA South, ‘Jam Sandwich PSA’ was born out of a love for the sport of PSA, training dogs, shared ethos and friendly attitude towards protection sports and it’s competitors.

Why the heck did we call it JAM?

Using the first letters of our names: Jen, AJ and Murph, happened to spell what felt like the most fitting name for us.

Why is it fitting?

We have a lot of fun when we’re training! We joke and have a lively atmosphere, but are still competitive and serious about our training and our dogs. Serious dogs, silly handlers. Life’s too short to not have a giggle when you’re doing your favourite thing.

Jen

Obedience Coach, somewhat posh, terrible with a drill but thinks she can still use one anyway

Jen Walmsley is our Club Director and Obedience Coach for Jam Sandwich PSA.

Jen has had involvement in the sport of PSA since it started growing in England, playing a supporting role with the arranging of trials and the first decoy certification camp.

Jen is currently on the Apprentice Judge program for PSA, which effectively means she is learning to be a qualified PSA Judge.

Jen is also a competitor in the sport with her dogs, Red (RIP) and Whiskey.

Red
PDC 2022
PSA1 First Leg 2022
PSA1 Second Leg 2023 - Earning PSA1 Title
PSA2 First Leg 2024 - Won High Protection Trophy
PSA2 Second Leg 2024 - Earning PSA2 Title

At the time of writing, Red is tied 4th place for the highest scoring dog in the world in PSA2 Protection.

Whiskey
PDC 2023
PSA1 First Leg 2025

In June 2025, Jen and Red began actively competing in the PSA3’s, but sadly in March 2026 Red passed away from Osteosarcoma.
Red left a legacy behind as the first UK PSA ‘Leg Dog’ whose primary target was the left leg.

Alongside the work she does at Jam Sandwich PSA, Jen works as a full time pet dog behavioural trainer in her area.

AJ

Decoy, bald by choice, somehow has seemingly endless reserves of energy

Alan Coombes is one of our decoys at Jam Sandwich PSA.

Alan, known to us as AJ, started his PSA journey in 2024 by joining Crown PSA South (Jam’s former club name). He arrived with a suit, having done some decoy courses under established and well respected UK decoys. AJ began learning about the specifics of PSA at club with the help of some special dogs, and occasionally a visit from revered American decoys.

In March 2025, AJ certified as a PSA decoy in Sanford, North Carolina.

Since then he has worked trials as a trial decoy both in the UK and the USA, and regularly attended club as a training and building decoy working with dogs in every level of PSA.

As of 2026, AJ is set to work the East Coast Regionals trial later in the year, and represent himself as a Regionals Decoy.

Alongside the work AJ does at Jam Sandwich PSA, he is a behavioural pet dog trainer, and also delivers protection 1:1s for dogs at various levels.

Murph

Decoy, hairy, contender for world’s shortest PSA decoy

Jack Murphy is one of our decoys at Jam Sandwich PSA.

Jack, known to us at Murph, joined Crown PSA South (Jam’s former club name) in early 2024. Having had years of experience working as a Military Dog Trainer and Handler doing protection work, Murph arrived excited to learn the sport of PSA.

After attending a seminar hosted by us and delivered by Secretary of Decoys and Senior Decoy, Jeremy Ciepluch, Murph’s love for the sport grew.

Murph certified as a PSA decoy in summer 2024 in Milton Keynes, UK, and has since worked PSA trials in the UK and the USA. He has also regularly attended club as a building and training decoy, working with dogs in every level of PSA.

Outside of club, Murph is a full time pet behavioural trainer, running his own business in his local area. Murph occasionally offers 1:1 protection training sessions as well.
